How to get gobsmacked

Gobsmacked yarn is entirely one-of-a-kind.  I dye everything by hand, using a unique labour-intensive process that involves a lot of serendipity.  This means that my yarn is only available in limited quantities and it’s not possible to repeat any particular cake.  So how do you get your hands on some?

On-line Updates:

I post a batch of fresh new gobsmacked yarn for sale here on the front page of my website once a month.  The date and time varies from month to month, so that people in different time zones have a chance to take part.  Updates are announced in advance here on my website and on Instagram (@gobsmackedyarn).

To order from an update, simply email me ( stating the name (colourname) and base of the cake(s) that you want, along with your complete mailing address, including postal code or ZIP code.  (Note that I never share your information with anyone else, other than entering it in PayPal to generate an invoice and a shipping label.)  The first person to email me requesting a particular cake gets it.  I usually get a quick flurry of email as soon as an update is open, but I promise that I’ll respond to let you know whether or not your request was successful.  If you’re successful, I’ll follow up by sending you a PayPal invoice.

For an emailed reminder before each update, join my mailing list.

Fibre Festivals and Shows:

Prior to the pandemic, I took part in several fibre festivals in Ontario each year, including the Peterborough Fibre Arts Festival, the Knitters’ Frolic in Toronto, the Highlands Fibre Fling at the indigodragonfly studio, and the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters’ Fair.  When I resume in-person shows, I’ll announce the dates and locations here on my website, on Instagram (@gobsmackedyarn), and via my mailing list.

Special Requests:

If you have something special in mind, or if you just don’t care for the speed of the online updates, you might want to make a special request– it’s a good way to see some options that might suit you and to have a bit more time to consider them.  Information about special requests is available here.
